Kroger will present a $10,000 donation to the King Center today. The grant will help digitize Dr. King’s historic resources.

“The King Library and Archives in Atlanta is the world’s foremost collection of source materials on Dr. King and the American Civil Rights Movement,” said Tammie Young-Ennaemba, corporate affairs manager for Kroger’s Atlanta Division. “It’s critical that we provide wider access to these materials through digital technologies and preserve them for generations to come.”

According to The King Center, the collection consists of the papers of Dr. King and those of the organization he co-founded, the Southern Christian Leadership Conference, as well as the records of 8 major civil rights organizations and of several individuals active in the Movement. The archives also include more than 200 oral history interviews with Dr. King’s teachers, friends, family and civil rights associates.

“Kroger is proud to help expand access to Dr. King’s wisdom and the Movement he led that transferred his leadership into profound change,” Young-Ennaemba said.
