Since the inception of townhomes or homes that share a wall, the most commonly overlooked environmental problem in construction is noise pollution. A shared wall is often called a “party wall”, and has been a common problem not addressed by most homebuilders. Most homebuilders rely on insulation, but generally it just isn’t enough to block sounds.

The Providence Group goes a step further utilizing solid wall construction with a product called thermacrete. The thermacrete aerated concrete product provides exceptional acoustic insulation because its porous structure and high surface mass, coupled with its ability to dampen mechanical vibration energy can greatly reduce noise pollution and the indoor echo effect. The thermacrete material utilized The Providence Group provides a quieter, more comfortable interior for the homeowners. Thermacrete sound wall system can achieve STC ratings up to 63– comparable to cinema walls in commercial movie theaters.

Not only does thermacrete help with noise pollution, but it provides fire resistance because its unique properties guarantee extreme fire resistive protection for the building occupants. Also, thermacrete is environmentally friendly because it will not delaminate and does not promote mold growth/condensation in the walls.

As we all know, new construction has several benefits, but The Providence Group is building its new homes with the homeowner in mind. Providing each TPG homeowner a safe, sustainable and quiet home they can enjoy for years to come.
