Swinerton, a leading general contractor with offices across the country, announces the appointment of Shelly Schwerzler as Business Development Market Lead for Swinerton’s Atlanta Division in response to the company’s significant growth. The Atlanta division expects to finish 2023 with over $150 million in revenue, representing approximately 130% year-over-year growth. In this position, Schwerzler plays an instrumental role in maintaining and enhancing the division’s upward trajectory.

“Previously, our executive team shared the responsibility of bringing in new business. But our growth now calls for a more efficient, consistent and intentional approach to meet our objectives – but, most importantly, the needs of our clients and partners,” explains Derek Mosiman, vice president, division manager, Swinerton Atlanta. The Atlanta division finished 2022 topping $64 million in revenue compared to $68 million in 2021 for the combined Carolinas and Atlanta divisions.

“Shelly impressed us from the start with her passion for people and ability to truly connect with peers, colleagues and decision-makers within our industry. She has a real knack for learning what makes them tick and their priorities – a skill that will serve her well in developing new relationships within this market,” adds Mosiman. As business development director, Schwerzler is responsible for raising brand awareness, driving new business opportunities, building a network of influencers and referral sources and supporting Swinerton’s leadership in meeting the division’s growth goals.

“Joining Swinerton was a glorious opportunity at the right place, right time,” says Schwerzler. “The culture of the company and the Atlanta division is indescribable. They are all genuine people for whom integrity means everything – both in product and relationships. The opportunity to build something in Atlanta is what really attracted me to this role.”

Schwerzler says she’s looking forward to helping Swinerton become a preeminent name in commercial construction in Atlanta’s very competitive market. “There are people in this market who have long-standing strong relationships with established construction companies, and companies that are considered an Atlanta legacy,” she says. “My top priority is proving Swinerton’s know-how within this industry by showcasing all the projects completed by this Atlanta team that is backed by a national company with a legacy of irrefutable reputation.”

Since opening its Atlanta office in 2017, Swinerton has emerged in Atlanta’s commercial real estate sector, winning bids for an increasing number of prestigious and high-profile projects. The Atlanta division was recently selected by the City of Atlanta as a Managing General Contractor On-Call for Hartsfield-Jackson Atlanta International Airport, where Swinerton is currently overseeing renovations to a Delta Sky Club as well as other construction and maintenance projects. Swinerton also provided general contracting services for the interior construction of a first-generation office space for 3M at The Edison in Alpharetta. Other Atlanta-area clients include Delta, Southwest, Post Communities, Starbucks, a popular digital network and a top social media brand.

Schwerzler comes to Swinerton from Office Creations, a Norcross, Ga.-based workspace design and office furniture company, where she was business development manager – government and community relations. Prior to that, she was the director of development for the Gwinnett County Library system, where she establishd an inaugural donor and fundraising program.
