The CobbWorks BOSS Young Professionals Program is hosting an employer “Match Day” for young professionals ages 15-24.  With funding from a Cobb County ARPA grant, the program will provide paid work experience to 500 Cobb County youth over the next two years.  Young professionals aged 15–24 will have the opportunity to participate in paid 8–16-week work experience that will provide skills and knowledge in high-demand careers. On Match Day, young professionals will experience speed interviewing with employers of their choice, speak with industry professionals, receive labor market information with salary potential, receive lunch, and can be hired “on the spot.” Employer Match Day will take place Saturday, May 6th, 2023 from 10:00 a.m. until 3:00 p.m. at the Hugh L. Grogan Jr. Community Center, 510 Lawrence Street NE, Marietta, Georgia 30060.  Interns will be paid between $13-$15 an hour for up to 40 hours per week, participate in talent tours, college & career fairs, financial literacy workshops, and work readiness training.

Quote from President/CEO Sonya Grant:  We could not do this without the ARPA funding.  Exposure, mentorship and accessibility are critical elements to improving the quality of life for youth.  Youth must have the opportunity to experience new careers and learn the skills required for those positions. This funding allows us to address this issue on a large scale while simultaneously building talent pipelines for employers. Our goal is to ensure that every person has an opportunity to live to their highest potential and the BOSS Young Professionals program is just one of the ways that we do that.

BOSS Young Professionals is a holistic program that prioritizes youth with barriers to employment, supporting them funding for education, skills training, and wrap-around support. Participants will explore career options and gain exposure to the working world and its requirements.  Work experience is designed to enhance the employability of individuals through the development of good work habits and basic work skills.

Quote from Chairwoman Lisa Cupid: The county recognizes the critical role partnerships and collaboration play in supporting our young people to succeed. With the help of our local government and ARPA funds, WorkSource Cobb's BOSS Program will provide over 500 young adults with paid internships, helping them to build upon their strengths and plan for a solid future. I welcome companies to join us for the BOSS Young Professionals Employer Match Day Event, where employers may connect with a pipeline of brilliant young professionals vetted by WorkSource Cobb.
