City of Atlanta Allocating More Funding for Street Safety and Resurfacing

Thursday, July 6th, 2023

The City of Atlanta will invest an additional $12 million in Atlanta’s roads following legislation approved by the Atlanta City Council and endorsed by Mayor Andre Dickens.

“We are investing in our infrastructure as we ensure that Atlanta is a city built for the future, ready to meet demands that growth and the unknown bring,” said Mayor Dickens. “This additional funding will help complete existing projects and equitably deliver results for our residents.”

The legislation amends the 2024 General Budget to authorize the Chief Financial Officer to transfer $3 million from the non-departmental unrestricted reserves and $9 million in interest income proceeds from the General Obligation Public Improvement Infrastructure Series 2015 A and B bond proceeds to the Atlanta Department of Transportation for resurfacing and safety improvements throughout all 12 Council Districts in the city.

The Atlanta Department of Transportation’s resurfacing and safety improvement projects will also include ADA repairs, sidewalk repairs/upgrades, crosswalk enhancements and more.
