Four new members of the Georgia State University Foundation Board of Trusteesofficially started their service term on July 1. These individuals were selected and voted on by the board and will join their 33 fellow trustees in providing foundation leadership and management to advance its philanthropic mission of supporting Georgia State University.

“Our newest trustees are outstanding professionals and leaders in their fields, and we’re excited by the value that their unique expertise, experiences and perspectives will add to the Georgia State Foundation Board,” said Telly McGaha, interim president of the Georgia State Foundation. “Most importantly, they share with their fellow trustees a deep commitment to Georgia State and a generous willingness to invest themselves in the advancement of the university’s mission and the success of its students in the classroom and beyond.”

The newest trustees, who will each serve a three-year term on the foundation board, are:

• Janine A. Bowen (J.D. ’98), partner, BakerHostetler: Bowen brings to the Georgia State Foundation Board more than 30 years of experience as an accomplished technology law strategist and negotiator. A past chair of Clemson University’s Board of Directors, Bowen has also served in charitable leadership capacities with Goodwill of North Georgia and the State Bar of Georgia.

• Randall Kent (B.B.A. ‘08), cofounder & chief operating officer, Cypress.io: On July 1, Kent began his term as chair of the Georgia State Alumni Association Board of Directors and in this capacity will serve as an ex officio member of the foundation board. Kent has 15 years of experience across various technologies and in translating business needs into usable and valuable technology. In addition to holding leadership roles with the Georgia State’s Alumni Association Board, including as vice chair, Kent’s community involvement includes serving the High Museum of Art and Park Pride.

• Allison Powell (M.I.D. ’19), co-founder, BimmerShops: Powell, with her husband, Andy Powell, founded the successful BimmerShops, a comprehensive directory of BMW repair shops in the U.S. and a one-stop resource for BMW enthusiasts. An advocate for safer streets and alternative transportation in Atlanta, Powell is a board member with the Atlanta Bicycle Coalition, in addition to serving on the board of the Piedmont Healthcare Foundation.

• Kimberly “Kim” Reed, president, southeast zone, AIG: As President of the U.S. Southeast Zone at AIG, Reed brings her more than 30 years’ experience in the insurance industry to lead the strategy, execution and delivery of core capabilities to the company’s clients, brokers and agents in the region. Reed has also served Georgia State as trustee on the Risk Management Foundation board.

During the previous fiscal year, the foundation board also added three new trustees. They are:

• Terrence Rogers (B.B.A. ‘10), strategy and special projects, Flywire: Rogers took over Strategy and Special Projects at Flywire, a global payments-enablement and software company, after serving as chief of staff at Drift, the world’s leading conversational marketing platform and one of the country’s fastest-growing start-ups. Rogers is the founder and co-chair of SEO Junior Leadership Board, which assists in the organization’s mission of providing exceptional educational and career opportunities to young people from underserved and historically excluded communities.

• Paula Stephan, professor emeritus, Department of Economics, Georgia State University: Stephan, professor emerita of economics at Georgia State and a research associate with the National Bureau of Economic Research, has a distinguished academic career that includes a wide range of honors, awards, appointments and leadership roles with top organizations in her field. Stephan is a Fellow of the American Association for the Advancement of Science and serves a number of professional and academic bodies, including the National Academies of Sciences Board on Science, Technology and Economic Policy. A member of the Board of Reviewing Editors, Science from 2012 until 2019, Stephan has published numerous articles in numerous journals, including The American Economic Review, The Journal of Economic Literature, Management Science and Nature.

• Nikita Trivedi (B.B.A. ‘08), director, supplier inclusion and sustainability, Southern Company: Prior to taking on the new role of director of supplier inclusion and sustainability for the Southern Company, Trivedi spent more than a decade working with and in leadership of Georgia Power’s corporate philanthropy. A past Georgia State University Alumni Association board member and 40 Under 40 honoree, Trivedi is also a director of the National Association of Asian American Professionals.
