July 13, 2023. Girl Scouts of Greater Atlanta (GSGATL) today announced long-time board member and volunteer Kathleen (Kat) Marran (She/Her/Hers pronouns) is stepping into the role of Interim Chief Executive Officer. Marran brings a wealth of corporate experience from a successful 29-year career at United Parcel Service (UPS.) She recently retired from her UPS role as Vice President of Marketing where she led large marketing and supply chain programs, budgets, projects and teams both across the US and internationally. She has a positive reputation for bringing forth the best in her teams through competent and energetic leadership and creativity.

With GSGATL, Marran served on the board as a director at large and on the Fund Development Committee. Never one to just sit behind a desk, Marran could also be found mentoring girls at Camp CEO and even tending to Mableton’s Camp Timber Ridge during volunteer clean-up days.

“Kat brings a wealth of professional experience and a commitment to community this role requires,” said Sonnet Edmonds, Girl Scouts of Greater Atlanta Board President. “We are confident she will offer steady and inspiring leadership during this time of transition.”

As Interim Chief Executive Officer, Marran aims to expand GSGATL’s impact within the 34 counties it serves, ensure the continued longevity of the 100-plus-year-old organization, and prioritize mental health, wellness, and diversity as key areas of focus.

“I believe building girls of courage, confidence and character is as important now as it was when Girl Scouts was founded more than 100 years ago,” said Marran, Interim CEO of Girl Scouts of Greater Atlanta. “I’m honored to be entrusted with this vital mission and excited for what the upcoming Girl Scout year holds for our members.”
