Children’s Healthcare of Atlanta’s Cardiac Catheterization Lab & Pre-Post Recovery Unit Awarded
Tuesday, August 29th, 2023
The Children’s unit is one of only four in the country to receive a Beacon Award for Excellence and the only pediatric catheterization lab to receive a Gold-Level award, recognized for showing staff-driven greatness in sustained unit performance and enhanced patient outcomes that exceed national benchmarks.
According to the AACN, the Beacon Award signifies exceptional care through improved outcomes and greater overall patient and family satisfaction. For nurses, a Beacon Award signals a positive and supportive work environment with greater collaboration between colleagues and leaders, higher morale and lower turnover.
“This is a testament to the hard work, compassion and expertise of every individual on our team,” said Laura Commodore MSN, RN, CCRN, manager of clinical operations in the cardiac cath lab at Children’s. “Together, we have made a significant impact on the lives of countless patients and their families.”
The Children’s cath lab performs an average of 1,200 cardiac catheterization and electrophysiology cases annually and is one of the busiest pediatric catheterization labs in the country.
