Staff Report

Thursday, August 24th, 2023

The Georgia Center for Nursing Excellence (GCNE) is hosting its first annual benefit gala with guest speaker, Chris Tuff. Chris is a best-selling author and speaker. His captivating energy, humor, and story telling leaves the audience with insightful lessons.

GCNE is a nonprofit organization that works with stakeholders to make Georgia the best state to recruit and retain nurses and healthcare providers. It takes a workforce ecosystem of people and partners to leverage the resources, practices, processes and strategies that will help achieve the goal of attracting and retaining a qualified, competent, and diverse healthcare workforce.

We need a reliable, skilled, and motivated healthcare workforce that continually evolves to meet the advancing needs and expectations of those being served. Healthcare CEOs are challenged to address the many priorities that have risen to the top. One of the top priorities facing most healthcare CEOs is having the healthcare workforce that is needed to provide the health and wellness services for the people in their community.

The workforce, workplace, and the work that is being done is changing, and employers need partners to address the complex workforce challenges that impact the workforce, patient outcomes, and the organization. GCNE is a partner and works alongside stakeholders to support the development and implementation of solutions and strategies that will benefit the workforce, patients, the organization, and the community.

Businesses need a thriving workforce and therefore have a vested interest in supporting the care and wellbeing of the people across Georgia. Georgia is the number one state to do business and we need to be the number one place to attract and retain healthcare talent. Overall, Georgia ranks #41 in healthcare, #42 in healthcare access, and #39 in healthcare quality, according to the U. S. News. The shortage of nurses and other healthcare providers in Georgia is a serious issue that must be addressed. Georgia can provide better healthcare to its citizens and communities by addressing the healthcare workforce challenges. We hope you will support GCNE in our mission to build a qualified, competent, and diverse nursing workforce that can help transform healthcare in Georgia.
