Captain D’s Multi-Unit Franchisee Debuting Latest Atlanta Restaurant Alongside Convenience Store

Friday, September 22nd, 2023

Captain D’s, the nation’s leading fast casual seafood restaurant, announced today the debut of its first location adjacent to a convenience store. Owned and operated by multi-unit franchisee Anil Dossani, the restaurant is at 2901 Anvil Block Road in Ellenwood, Georgia, and is opening alongside his new BP gas station. This is the fifth Atlanta-area Captain D’s for 33-year-old Dossani, who began franchising with the brand in 2018 and has quickly become one of the most successful franchisees in the system. The restaurant seats 22 guests and features a drive-thru.

Dossani owns multiple gas station brands and currently has five in operation, with the Ellenwood BP opening in the coming weeks. He believes combining his convenience store and restaurant businesses brings a lot of advantages for him and his customers.

“We are focused on getting the best real estate possible for our restaurants and our convenience stores. The ability to add Captain D’s to those corner lots with easy access points is a definite boost,” said Anil Dossani. “There is a lot of commercial and residential growth happening in Ellenwood and throughout the Atlanta area. The flexible real estate options we have with Captain D’s allow us to capitalize on these opportunities and meet our guests’ needs from a dining-in occasion to a quick pick-up on the go.”

Dossani now operates every prototype Captain D’s currently offers. He started five years ago in Georgia with traditional 99-seat dining room locations in Acworth and 44-seats in Norcross, then opened the first franchise-owned Express prototype in South Fulton, featuring drive-thru and walk-up service only. This past June he converted a former Dunkin’ in Marietta.

“Anil’s growth in the Atlanta area has been a terrific example of how each Captain D’s prototype gives flexible, scalable options that meet the demands of today’s customers and real estate markets,” said Brad Reed, Chief Development Officer of Captain D’s. “Our company teams operate more than half of our restaurants, giving us unique insights into the day-to-day of running the business. We enjoy working closely with Anil to pass on key learnings and develop best practices for his continued success.”

The new Ellenwood restaurant features Captain D’s vibrant, coastal design and welcoming atmosphere, serving high-quality seafood with warm hospitality at an affordable price. With spacious dining room seating for 22, the restaurant also has drive-thru, carry-out and call-ahead ordering options. Hours of operation are Sunday – Thursday from 10:30 a.m. to 10 p.m. and Friday – Saturday from 10:30 a.m. to 11 p.m. Call-ahead orders can be placed by calling 404-565-2162.

Captain D’s has continued to experience a surge in franchise development and new restaurant openings over the past several years in states such as Ohio, Alabama, Georgia, Tennessee and Texas. The new locations feature Captain D’s popular Express, 22- and 44-seat designs and a double drive-thru, which boasts shortened wait times and increased efficiency. Captain D’s is also successfully converting vacant restaurant properties, with four cost-effective conversions recently completed in Georgia and Mississippi markets.

With more than 530 restaurants in 23 states, Captain D’s is the fast-casual seafood leader and number one seafood franchise in America ranked by average unit volume. The brand remains focused on corporate and franchise development in target markets throughout the South, Midwest, and Mid-Atlantic states, including Florida, Ohio and Pennsylvania. The company is currently seeking single and multi-unit operators to join in the brand’s rapid expansion.
