Get ready for an exhilarating splash into adventure as Margaritaville at Lanier Islands announces that Georgia’s first waterslide coaster, Apocalypso, is coming to The Water Park in Margaritaville at Lanier Islands in 2024. Apocalypso is the centerpiece of a new iconic tower of four new slides that promises to redefine aquatic thrills. This monumental investment marks the most significant expansion of Margaritaville at Lanier Islands in decades, adding Georgia's largest waterslide complex to the water park, boasting an impressive 15 slides in total in 2024.

Apocalypso is the ultimate fusion waterslide, combining heart-pounding plunging drops and uphill blasts into one non-stop thrill ride. The ride opens with the largest blasterango drop in the U.S. that sends riders on rafts careening down steep valleys and then blasting them up hills culminating in a final, dramatic valley before reaching a near-vertical ascent up Apocalypso’s wall and encountering one last surprise hump for an electrifying finish. The attraction will feature 418 feet of slide and an average water speed of 30 mph.

Accompanying Apocalypso are three more sensational, world-class slides that emanate from the same tower. Serpentine Storm combines the high-banking rotations of a bowl with the rapid descent of a downward-spiraling flume and Dreamsicle Dive features a closed and open tube that delivers high-intensity, next-level fun. The final slide, the lower-intensity Mango Mania, is an aqua tube waterslide featuring varying slopes and slide paths perfect for younger thrill seekers.

“This blockbuster tower of slides, featuring Georgia’s first waterslide coaster, will be an epic addition to Margaritaville at Lanier Islands,” said “Bucky” Perry, Vice President of Margaritaville at Lanier Islands. “For those seeking an escape and a nonstop day of high-speed intensity thrills and family fun, Margaritaville at Lanier Islands is the place to be.”

The tower of rides featuring the new Apocalypso attraction is the most significant investment in the water park since its inception and is being created in partnership with internationally renowned aquatic attraction designer WhiteWater West.

“The Water Park at Lanier Islands has created unforgettable memories for generations of families in the southeast and we’re excited to be part of its ongoing transformation. With these new waterslides, that cover a range of thrill levels, kids and parents will be able to enjoy the rides together,” said Jordanna Bower, Vice President of Business Development at WhiteWater West.
