LaGrange College recently entered into a partnership with PCOM Georgia in Suwanee.  PCOM Georgia is a branch campus of Philadelphia College of Osteopathic Medicine, established in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, in 1899.

The affiliation agreement guarantees positions for up to three LaGrange College students who meet requirements for each of PCOM Georgia’s DO (Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine) and PharmD (Doctor of Pharmacy) programs.

Andrea Mann, DO, dean and chief academic officer of the osteopathic medicine program at PCOM Georgia said, “Strategic partnerships with our Georgia undergraduate institutions are essential to fulfilling our mission of recruiting students from Georgia, training and retaining physicians, and reducing the healthcare shortages in our state.

She added, “LaGrange is a natural partner with a shared values set and mutual goals. Together we will work together to train quality candidates to serve as caring, competent, whole-person physicians for our communities.”

Shawn Spencer, PhD, RPh, dean and chief academic officer of the PCOM School of Pharmacy said, “We are delighted to establish this collaboration with LaGrange College. It charts a clear course of study for students to pursue the variety of career opportunities that a Doctor of Pharmacy degree at PCOM Georgia offers."

LaGrange College students who attend PCOM Georgia will continue to experience the benefits of a small campus focusing on student success. Both the Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine and the Doctor of Pharmacy programs offer state-of-the-art learning facilities and interprofessional education opportunities, culminating in a diverse and vibrant learning environment empowering students to reach their full potential.

“We are thrilled to work with one of the nation’s oldest medical schools,” said LaGrange College President Susanna Baxter, EdD. “I look forward to hearing success stories from PCOM Georgia regarding students coming from LaGrange College.”

“For LaGrange College, this is an opportunity to provide additional pathway options for our students,” said Brian Peterson, PhD, vice president for academic affairs. “This is what LaGrange does best; provide a rigorous education in the liberal arts that will prepare students for graduate programs like these. We’re excited about beginning this partnership and developing it into the future.”
