2023 Governor’s Environmental Address Postponed from Original Date of October 20

Friday, October 13th, 2023

When you’re the Governor of the eighth-largest state in the nation in terms of population, it goes without saying that the list of duties and events can fill your calendar to overflowing. As a result, Gwinnett Clean & Beautiful’s (GC&B) 15th Governor’s Environmental Address – initially set for October 20 with Governor Brian Kemp as the keynote speaker – has been postponed. In addition to engaging a projected crowd of more than 650 corporate, community, educational, and environmental leaders, the Environmental Address also comprises the presentation of the ECoS (Environmental Consciousness & Stewardship) Awards.  GC&B Executive Director Schelly Marlatt, the organization’s Board of Trustees, its Citizens Advisory Board Members, and the event’s presenting sponsor Primerica are currently exploring alternative dates for the eco-focused nonprofit’s largest fundraiser of the year – which will likely take place in the first or second quarter of 2024.

“Between our own cleanup and recycling events, managing Green and Healthy school programs, educating the public on ways to incorporate green practices in their daily lives, and so much more, if there’s anything we understand at Gwinnett Clean & Beautiful, it’s a busy schedule,” said Marlatt. “Having served as our keynote speaker at two other Addresses, we truly appreciate Governor Kemp’s past participation and remain hopeful that we can find a date that better fits his calendar next year. We are also exploring with his office the possibility of a more formal evening event instead of the traditional luncheon address. We ask all our supporters to stay tuned in the coming months for the big reveal of the date and time for the rescheduled Governor’s Environmental Address!”
