Hartsfield-Jackson to Close South Economy Parking Lot

In preparation to build capacity for future growth, Hartsfield-Jackson Atlanta International Airport (ATL) is closing its South Economy Lot on Oct. 23 as it readies for construction of South Parking Deck Phase 1 on Nov. 1.

 

The new deck, part of ATL’s multibillion-dollar capital improvement program, will be built in the footprint of the 3,000-parking space South Economy Lot. This project will enhance operations, update technology, and provide a better customer experience. What are the Airport’s mitigation plans?

  • Enhanced staffing will be provided to address public concerns.

  • Increased signage will be added throughout the campus and along roadways beginning Oct. 20.

  • Renewal of North and South parking decks is now complete, and all spaces are available.

What will the new South Deck look like?

  • The new structure will span seven levels and boast 6,700 parking spaces.

  • It will feature smart technology components such as digital parking space availability and wayfinding, ticketless entry and exit, LED lighting, and other features to provide a seamless parking experience.

  • It will also include a new Parking Manager’s office, entry and exit plazas, a pedestrian bridge connection to the Domestic Terminal, parking revenue controls, and automatic parking guidance systems.

When will the project be completed?
