Kroger’s Atlanta Division, which includes Georgia, South Carolina and Eastern Alabama, announced that its customers and associates raised more than $127,700 for local Feeding America food banks during September, which is Hunger Action Month.

One hundred percent of each donation raised through the campaign went directly to local Feeding America food banks.

“We would like to thank our customers and associates for their enthusiastic commitment to ending hunger in our communities,” said Tammie Young-Ennaemba, corporate affairs manager for Kroger’s Atlanta Division. “We are very excited to make this announcement. With the holiday season upon us, every dollar we raise can help make a difference in the lives of those in need.”

Kroger’s Zero Hunger | Zero Waste Foundation partnered with Feeding America on the campaign. From September 1 through September 30, Kroger customers rounded up their purchase to help end hunger in their local communities.

Nationwide, Kroger has donated one billion dollars to hunger relief, which includes 500 million pounds of donated surplus food. This is a total of 2.3 billion meals directed to communities. At the same time, Kroger associates have rescued 500 million pounds of food. Additionally, Kroger has achieved 79% total waste diversion and diverted almost 50% of food waste from landfills.
