Children’s Museum of Atlanta Honors Brenda Reid with Power of Play Award

Children’s Museum of Atlanta proudly names Brenda Reid this year's recipient of its prestigious Power of Play award. This annual accolade is a tribute to individuals who exemplify the Museum's mission of igniting the imaginations, sense of exploration and learning of every child through the transformative power of play. The 2024 Imagination Ball, an adults-only charity event aimed at making play-based learning accessible to children from all walks of life, will be held on March 23, 2024. Brenda Reid, Community Relations Manager for Publix Super Markets' Atlanta division and an alumna of Clark Atlanta University, has left an indelible mark on the lives of women and children through her leadership and unwavering dedication to fostering opportunities for the next generation of leaders. Her extensive community involvement and service on the boards of several established children's organizations in Atlanta, including Toys for Tots of Metro Atlanta, showcases her commitment. Additionally, Reid volunteers her time as an affiliate of the Camellia Rose Chapter of The Links, Inc., and she previously served on the DeKalb County Schools Superintendent Advisory Council, the DeKalb Chamber of Commerce, the Birmingham Business Alliance Board of Trustees and Africa's Children's Fund. Reid's contributions have been recognized with numerous awards, including the 100 Black Men of DeKalb County Pioneer Award, The Atlanta Job Corps Center Leadership of Excellence Award, YWCA of Metro Atlanta Woman of Achievement Award, The Atlanta Business League Top Businesswomen of the Year, The Atlanta Urban League Guild Community Servant of the Year and more. “It’s an honor to be selected as this year’s Power of Play award recipient,” said Brenda Reid. “I couldn’t be prouder to serve as part of a group dedicated to giving kids from different backgrounds and interests the chance to develop their creativity, curiosity and self-confidence through play and learning.” Imagination Ball, chaired by Museum board members Andrew Chang and Dr. DeRetta Rhodes, promises an enchanting evening filled with awe, playfulness and exploration. Taking place Saturday, March 23 from 7-11 p.m. at The Eastern in Reynoldstown, the festivities aim to rekindle guests' appreciation for the impact of imagination, fantasy and storytelling. Attendees will indulge in passed hors d'oeuvres and cocktails, while enjoying captivating performances and interactive experiences that evoke the pure joy of childhood play. This annual charity event, featuring an exquisite seated dinner and a live auction, lends its support to the Museum's mission of changing the world by igniting the imagination, curiosity and learning of every child through the magic of play.
