Goodwill of North Georgia Reminds You to Give Back on GivingTuesday

Tuesday, November 28th, 2023

In celebration of GivingTuesday, Goodwill of North Georgia invites you to join their mission of putting people to work by generously donating your gently used items to one of their more than 100 donation centers across North Georgia.

When people donate to Goodwill, they help the organization put people to work as the donated items are sold to raise funds for job training programs and placement services at Goodwill's 14 Career Centers, which offer specialized programs for targeted audiences such as youth, returning citizens, and people with disabilities.

DeAndre Gaskins, a member of the deaf community, is an example of how Goodwill changes lives. Through a job readiness program, DeAndre was referred to Goodwill of North Georgia. Despite having no work experience, he was hired as a groundsman at the National Archives of Atlanta through Goodwill's partnership. Being deaf did not prove to be a barrier to his employment. DeAndre has been working with Goodwill for the past two years, and he credits the organization for recognizing his independence, motivation to work, and creating a supportive, inclusive workplace.

Another success story is Tiffany Crenshaw, a single mother with a two-year-old daughter. She joined Goodwill's Oakwood Career Center to enroll in the welding training program. With the help of her case manager, Tiffany completed the program and earned various certifications. She secured a job at Cottrell, Inc. Tiffany's success story is an inspiration and a testament to the support and training provided by Goodwill.

Through your generous donations, Goodwill of North Georgia will continue to provide career opportunities for those looking for a job, a better job and a career.
