WHAT:             

Rreal Tacos, the home of authentic Mexican street food in Atlanta, is opening the doors on its sixth location at 5010 West Broad St., NE in Sugar Hill on Monday, Dec. 11. Owners Damian Otero and Miguel Hernandez have continued to grow their business in record time, opening three locations in just a year.

The Sugar Hill location features the dishes metro Atlantans have come to know and love from Rreal Tacos, such as asada from northeastern Monterrey, birria barbacoa from Guadalajara and taco al pastor, one of Mexico City's signature tacos. Stuffed quesadillas, slow-cooked pork carnitas, desserts like platano macho (sweet plantain with cream and brown sugar) and smoky mezcal cocktails provide guests with a large selection from which to choose.

The minority-owned company acquired the Sugar Hill location just two months ago and has been able to prepare for opening in record time of just 60 days. Instead of slowing down after their first five acquisitions, Otero and Hernandez are capitalizing on their success with locations in Midtown, West Midtown, Chamblee, Sandy Springs, Cumming and now Sugar Hill. This rapid growth continues into 2024 with locations slated for Buckhead and Lawrenceville.

Otero and Hernandez have successfully opened a record number of locations in a short amount of time due to breaking all the rules. The pair have sales backgrounds and little restaurant experience between them but have recruited top talent in front of house, back of house and operations via their employee-owned equity structure. They have disrupted the usual restaurant opening model and built a system that is giving people the opportunity to grow and have ownership in one of the fastest-growing restaurant brands in the state. To open doors so quickly, they rely on landing deals with restaurants that are already up and running. Acquiring these second-generation spaces makes for a faster and easier opening. Instead of hiring and training new staff members with each opening, they over hire, train a large number of employees and send these already trained co-workers to their newly opened spaces.

The Sugar Hill location opening will be led by Rreal Tacos veteran and managing partner Fabiola Jimenez , kitchen manager/partner Diego Matus , managing partner Michelle Hidalgo and VP of operations/partner Gilberto Radilla.
