Atlanta Mayor Andre Dickens visited Cristo Rey Atlanta Jesuit High School today where he connected with students and participated in a lively town hall session.

Students gave high fives and fist pumps to the mayor as he walked into the school gym amid music and cheers. Seniors Hakeem Kokumo and Melanie Huerta Govea served as facilitators and had the opportunity to ask Mayor Dickens questions submitted by students on various topics, ranging from local policies to the future of the city to his favorite book. The event provided a valuable platform for the mayor to directly engage with the youth of Atlanta, addressing their concerns and sharing insights into the workings of local government.

Mayor Dickens expressed appreciation for the enthusiasm of the students and their thoughtful questions. He shared that he is motivated every day by his faith, solving complex issues, and his hope for young people. The mayor emphasized the importance of civic participation and encouraged students to stay informed and involved in shaping the future of their community.

Melanie Huerta Govea said, “It was an honor to represent my fellow students and ask the mayor insightful questions that were submitted by our student body. Facilitating this dialogue between students and our city leader was an empowering experience, and I'm inspired by the engagement of our school community.”
