January 12, 2024 Global construction and development firm, Skanska, in partnership with SG Contracting, Inc. proudly announces the successful completion of the world's first newly constructed Signia by Hilton hotel in Atlanta, Georgia. This marks a significant milestone in the $331million construction project, which serves as the headquarters hotel for the Georgia World Congress Center Authority (GWCCA) and is poised to enhance Atlanta's international presence.

Situated on the northwest corner of the Georgia World Congress Center Authority campus, the 1.25M-SF Signia by Hilton Atlanta hotel stands tall with 42 stories and 976 spacious guest rooms overlooking Mercedes-Benz Stadium. The hotel features contemporary designs, state-of-the-art technology, and a lobby with locally inspired architecture. Boasting more than 100,000-SF of flexible meeting space, the property touts the largest hotel ballroom in Georgia, and includes an outdoor event deck and an outdoor event lawn, as well as three boardrooms.

"We’ve played an integral part in shaping Atlanta’s skyline throughout the years and the addition of the Signia by Hilton property will only enhance our great city’s international presence and continue to position Atlanta as a major host of civic, cultural, and commercial destination,” said Scott Cannon, executive vice president, and general manager for Skanska USA Building’s Georgia and South Carolina operations. “As a catalyst for economic growth in the region, the construction of the hotel generated nearly a thousand jobs, with the promise of employing many more in the years to come. ."

The 976-room Signia by Hilton Atlanta, built on the repurposed foundation of the Georgia Dome, is the city's largest downtown ground-up hotel development project in 40 years. Owned by GWCCA and managed by Hilton Management Services, Signia by Hilton Atlanta is set to deliver millions in direct economic benefits and additional tax revenues to the state and the city.

"In the midst of the global challenges presented by the pandemic, navigating the complexities of this project demanded a strong commitment to safety, adaptability, and collaboration,” said Mark Pasciuto, Skanska project executive. “The team worked more than two million hours to deliver this incredible project ensuring that the construction of the Signia by Hilton Atlanta not only met but exceeded expectations."

Boston-based Drew Company is the developer for the property with Gensler as the architect.
