Fiserv Hosts 60 Local Students for Hands-On STEAM Program

Thursday, February 1st, 2024

As a proof point of its commitment to cultivating the next generation of technology leaders, leading local technology employer Fiserv is partnering with tuition-free public charter school Amana Academy to bring the FIN Future Techies experiential learning program to Alpharetta. FIN Future Techies is a 12-week science, technology, engineering, arts and mathematics (STEAM) after-school educational program featuring hands-on sessions with distinguished Fiserv engineers and fintech experts. The mission is to inspire the technologists of tomorrow by stretching the limits of students’ creativity and imagination.

On Tuesday, January 23, Fiserv kicked off the program by welcoming to its campus 60 Amana Academy students in grades 5-8. Students took a site tour, met with their instructors, and attended the first of 12 “Techie Tracks,” which are experiential learning sessions with activities facilitated by Fiserv experts, distinguished engineers and Amana Academy teachers.

Weekly FIN Future Techies “Techie Track” themes focus on finance and technology and will include:
  • The Evolution of Money: From Bartering to Crypto
  • Designing with Tech
  • Entrepreneurship
  • App Fundamentals
  • Data Detectives: Cybersecurity and Encryption
  • Artificial Intelligence and Machine Learning

At the conclusion of the 12-week program, students will collaborate in small groups to create and present a final capstone project focused on developing new solutions using the tools and technology learned throughout the program.

Since the launch of the Fiserv FIN Future Techies program at its Berkeley Heights, New Jersey location, more than 120 students have benefitted from the intentionally designed curriculum. This is the first time the program is being conducted in Georgia, and it will continue to expand to other Fiserv locations in the U.S. later this year.
