MARTA Artbound and Fulton County Public Art Futures Lab Announce Call for 2024 Artist-in-Residence Program

Tuesday, February 6th, 2024

The Metropolitan Atlanta Rapid Transit Authority (MARTA) public art program, Artbound, in partnership with Fulton County and Arts & Entertainment Atlanta, is pleased to announce the opening of applications for the Artist-in-Residence program at the Fulton County Public Art Futures Lab, with Underground Atlanta serving as a hosting partner.

The Artist-in-Residence program aims to support local artists who integrate technology into their artistic practice. This residency offers space for creative exploration and connects artists with a vibrant artistic community. MARTA Artbound is partnering with Fulton County Public Art Futures Lab to sponsor one of the three artist residencies.

The Public Art Futures Lab, led by the Fulton County Public Art team, blends the latest technology with public art to unlock new dimensions of cultural engagement. The lab aims to break down barriers, empower artists, and foster inclusivity within the artistic community.

The MARTA Artbound Artist Resident will be tasked with leveraging 3D printing technology found in the Public Art Futures Lab to create unique, collectible MARTA-inspired artwork to give away each week in the Atlanta community. This free art distribution should raise MARTA Artbound’s public profile as well as disperse information about MARTA into the Atlanta community. See full application for details.

Selected artists will receive a stipend, access to dedicated space, and equipment for 14 weeks, providing them with the necessary resources and time to explore and create innovative works at the intersection of art and technology, enriching the Atlanta community.
