Other Personal Injury court cases are the most common private civil cases in Georgia, new research has found.
The study by personal injury law firm Scott Vicknair analyzed data on more than 264,000 private civil cases across the US, and on the 7,237 in Georgia that were recorded in the 12 months ending March 31, 2022.
The results revealed that Georgia’s most common private civil case is Other Personal Injury, with 23% of all civil cases related to the matter. In total, there were 7,237 in Georgia over the 12-month period that was measured, and 1,640 of them were Other Personal Injury-related.
The second most common private civil case in the state is Civil Rights, as 15% fall under this category, while in third place it is All Others, on 14%.
On the national level, the most common case is ‘Other Personal injury’, as it makes up 40% of all private civil cases. There were a total of 264,224 private civil cases across all categories in the 12-month period that was measured, and 105,478 fell into the category.
The second most common case in the US as a whole is civil rights, with 38,156 cases, which is 14% of the national total, while contract cases came in third, with 9%, or 24,920 cases overall.
Commenting on the figures, personal injury lawyer David Vicknair said: “These figures offer a fascinating insight into the work that the Georgia legal system is doing every day. Across America, there are more than 260,000 private civil cases each year, which works out at an average of more than 5,000 cases each week, and they are an important way for members of the public to seek justice.”
