HouseATL, a leading advocate for affordable housing, recognized the Atlanta BeltLine Partnership as the 2024 Housing Retention Hero at its inaugural Affordable Housing Awards event held on Feb. 29. The luncheon, hosted at Trees Atlanta, brought together 125 affordable housing leaders to celebrate the outstanding achievements of organizations and individuals committed to addressing housing affordability challenges in the Atlanta region. 

The Atlanta BeltLine Partnership was selected for the Housing Retention Hero Award in recognition of its steadfast commitment to preventing the displacement of community residents and assisting long-time residents in aging in place. The organization's impactful initiatives, such as the Legacy Resident Retention Program, have played a crucial role in supporting Atlanta's residents. 

“With consistent headlines about the housing affordability crisis, it is time to take a moment to celebrate the progress that has been made toward affordability and the leaders that are driving these efforts in a particularly difficult market,” announced Terri Lee, HouseATL co-chair and CEO of Atlanta Housing. 

The Atlanta BeltLine Partnership played a pivotal role in the establishment of the Atlanta Land Trust, contributing research and foundational support to create permanent affordable housing along the Atlanta BeltLine. In addition, the Partnership provides educational workshops and one-on-one assistance to help existing homeowners access property tax exemptions, file property tax appeals, and avoid predatory loans.
