Tuesday, April 30th, 2024

Today, Terminus Modern Ballet Theatre (TMBT) announced the details of its 2024 fall season, which will kick off with two world premiere productions over two weekends at the TULA Arts Center’s White Box Theatre in Atlanta’s Buckhead neighborhood. Additionally, as part of their annual Serenbe performances, Terminus will present a repertory production, KRYPTOS, which includes two world premiere works, one of them by Terminus co-founder and former resident choreographer Heath Gill, now rehearsal director with Orlando Ballet. Details regarding Terminus Ballet School’s (TBS) annual, beloved performances of The Nutcracker Suite will be announced soon.

“The start of a new season is always special,” said TMBT Artistic Director John Welker. “This year is particularly significant as we introduce four world premieres into our growing repertoire of original works, two of which will be premiered in our new Atlanta-based White Box Theatre. With the addition of our in-town theater, I’m inspired to continue our work in bringing appealing and accessible world class ballet performances to all our audiences around the Greater-Atlanta region.”

“It will be a bittersweet moment when our co-founder, Rachel Van Buskirk, will have her final performance and bow on September 22 — her fingerprint runs through every facet of this organization and her dedicated leadership and exquisite artistry has made us all better, both personally and professionally,”
Welker added. “There is simply no replacing Rachel, however, Terminus continues to grow, evolve, and bring new dancers into the company fold. We are very excited to introduce a new company dancer, Lenai Wilkerson, this coming season. I know Atlanta audiences will be enthralled with the dynamic and expressive virtuosity she brings to the stage.”

TERMINUS BALLET SCHOOL
New for the Terminus Ballet School this year is an expansion that will include a beginner primary ballet program to serve children ages 3-6 years. Classes will open this fall.

TBS Education Director Christine Welker said: “We are delighted to open our doors  to serve our youngest dancers to introduce the fun and creativity of ballet.  Now students ages 3-19 who are new to Terminus can take a free trial class and have an opportunity to meet our esteemed professional faculty. We all take great pride in offering the highest level of professional instruction while ensuring we are an accessible, inclusive, and open school to anyone who wishes to experience all that ballet has to offer.”
