Atlanta Region Sees $1.1B in Construction Projects Released for Bid in Q2 of 2014

The Atlanta metro region saw more than 600 construction projects released for bid in the 2ndquarter of 2014, with a total contract value of $1.1 billion, BidClerk data showed. This represents a 10% increase compared to the 2nd quarter of 2013.
Nationally, BidClerk reported on $126 billion in commercial construction contracts out-to-bid in the 2nd quarter of 2014, which included more than 50,000 projects. BidClerk saw an increase in the total contract values of more than $14 billion compared to the 2nd quarter of 2013. These figures include both public and private work and it represents the aggregate value of actively bidding commercial construction contract opportunities available in BidClerk's database.
One notable project actively bidding in the Atlanta region in the 2nd quarter of 2014 is the Atlanta Braves Coliseum, being built at an estimated cost of $672 million. The construction manager is a joint venture including American Builders 2017, Brasfield & Gorrie, Mortenson Construction, Barton Malow Company, and New South Construction Company.
Another notable project actively bidding in the Atlanta region in the 2ndquarter of 2014 is the Fernbank Elementary School Replacement, being built at an estimated cost of $20.6 million. (BidClerk project number 1651015.) The architect is CGLS Architects (Atlanta, GA) and the general contractor is R.K. Redding Construction Inc. (Bremen, GA).
The Atlanta area counties included in the report are Cherokee, Clayton, Cobb, DeKalb, Douglas, Fayette, Fulton, Gwinnett, Henry, and Rockdale.
