The Atlanta Center for Medical Research (ACMR), a national leader in research studies since 1980, will hold a grand opening celebration at its newly renovated research facility in southwest Atlanta on Thursday, Oct. 23, from 4:00 p.m. to 6:30 p.m. The $25 million facility, which will go by the name of its anchor tenant, Atlanta Center for Medical Research, is located at the site of the former Southwest Atlanta Hospital building at 501 Fairburn Road, SW.

Mayor Kasim Reed commended ACMR for its innovative industry leadership. “The opening of this state-of-the-art facility is more proof that Atlanta is on its way to becoming the health technology capital of the southeast,” said Mayor Reed. “The ACMR complex will bring revitalization and hundreds of well-paying jobs to the southwest Atlanta community.”

At the free public event, guests are invited to tour the new facilities, meet the physicians and staff, enjoy light refreshments, and learn more about the conditions researched by ACMR. Atlanta City Council Member, Clarence T. Martin, Metro Atlanta Chamber Vice President of Economic Development and Industry Expansion, David Hartnett, and President and CEO of Georgia Bio, Russell Allen, will also be featured as special guest speakers.

“We are excited to welcome our new community into the facility,” said Eric J. Riesenberg, Director of Operations at ACMR. “This center is the first of its kind and a true game changer for the medical research industry.”

Boasting 150,000 square feet of space redesigned and renovated by Arberg properties, the research facility promises to be the new crown jewel of Atlanta’s medical community. Each aspect of the facility has been specifically designed to conduct research studies that will help assure faster, more accurate data to develop safe and quality medications for patients everywhere.

With more than 30 years of experience, ACMR will continue to conduct both outpatient and inpatient clinical trials in Phase I, first-in-humans, through Phase IV of industry-sponsored pharmaceutical trials at the new research facility. ACMR will also introduce a novel open-source structure, allowing other leaders in the field to access the facility’s state-of-the-art equipment and highly trained staff to conduct research on site.
