Thursday, July 23rd, 2020
Central Atlanta Progress (CAP) and the Atlanta Downtown Improvement District (ADID) hosted their semi-annual Town Hall in a virtual format this morning. Nearly 200 people, representing a broad cross-section of the community, joined the webinar.
The program included project updates from CAP/ADID President A.J. Robinson, as well as Fredalyn M. Frasier, Project Director, Planning and Urban Design.
The agenda also featured briefings from Atlanta Police Chief Rodney Bryant and Dr. Lynn A. Paxton, District Health Director of the Fulton County Board of Health.
In her remarks, Paxton emphasized the importance of community members practicing behaviors that can help limit the spread of COVID-19, including wearing masks and maintaining social distancing when necessary.
“Public health requires all of the public to work together on this,” Paxton said.
Later in the program, Robinson offered reflections on the lives and legacies of Rev. Dr. C.T. Vivian and Congressman John Lewis. Frasier shared updates on milestones reached in the Arts & Entertainment Atlanta program, as well as CAP/ADID and the City of Atlanta’s “Atlanta Legacy Makers” program, which will culminate in a tribute to Atlanta Mayors Ivan Allen, Jr. and Maynard Jackson.
CAP/ADID also released an “anthem” video in support of the Downtown community’s resilience during a challenging year.
A recording of the event, as well as the presentation slides and other meeting materials, are now available on AtlantaDowntown.com.
This CAP/ADID Town Hall Meeting is made possible by Delta Air Lines.
