Staff Report

Tuesday, March 22nd, 2022

Impact100 Atlanta, a women’s philanthropic organization, is excited to launch and accept founding members for 2022. The organization joins the 60+ Impact100 chapters across the U.S., U.K., Australia, and New Zealand that are already making a difference in their communities. Since its inception, Impact100 and its members have joined together to donate over $105M to strengthen their local communities. Impact100 was founded by Wendy Steele in Cincinnati in 2001 in response to feeling as though women’s roles in philanthropy needed a new way to be expanded and encouraged. Regarding Impact100 Atlanta’s launch, Wendy shares, “Atlanta’s diverse and thriving philanthropic community is the ideal location for an Impact100 chapter. I’m so excited to watch Impact100 Atlanta grow and serve as a powerful force for good in the community.”

Impact100 Atlanta will award high-impact grants to nonprofits in the greater Metro Atlanta area. The organization will be able to do this by encouraging women and those who identify as women to become members by donating $1,000 each year into the grant pool. Nonprofits serving the greater metro Atlanta area will be able to apply for grants in five focus areas: Arts & Culture; Education; Family; Health & Wellness; and Environment, Preservation, & Recreation. Grant review committees then conduct a rigorous and in-depth review process, finalists are chosen in each focus area, and the grantee(s) voted on by members at the annual meeting. Impact100 Atlanta’s goal is to award as many high-impact grants as possible each year.

Impact100 Atlanta Founding President, Sarah Levitt, is thrilled to bring this wonderful organization to Atlanta. Sarah was inspired by two impactful women in her life and their involvement in the Impact100 Baldwin County chapter in Alabama: Her grandmother was a founding board member, and her mother served on the board there for six years. Through her family, Sarah has seen the powerful effect Impact100 has had on the community – benefitting members and local nonprofits alike.

“Impact100 Atlanta offers members the opportunity to meet other like-minded women, learn about nonprofits in the community, and make a true difference by contributing to transformational grants,” Sarah shares. “During these challenging times, I look forward to seeing how Impact100 Atlanta positively transforms the Atlanta community.”

An Atlanta-based nonprofit, Rally Foundation for Childhood Cancer Research, was awarded a grant from Impact100 Pensacola in 2021. The grant will fund the Rally Resource Room, a space in Pensacola’s Studer’s Family Children’s Hospital at Sacred Heart specifically designed for families of immunocompromised childhood cancer patients to work, learn, and play, offering an additional avenue to provide social and emotional support to children and their families while they undergo cancer treatment.

Emily Kallos, Senior Director of Development at Rally and Impact100 Atlanta founding board member, shares: “The grant awarded by Impact100 Pensacola provides Rally the opportunity to give patients and their families a unique space to continue their professional and school work while in the hospital for childhood cancer treatment. We are so grateful for the support and generosity of Impact100. Without these incredible women, the Rally Resource Room would not have been possible.” More information on the Rally Resource Room can be found here. Impact100 Atlanta looks forward to awarding grants like Rally’s that will make a true difference for the nonprofits and in people’s lives.
