The Association for Commuter Transportation (ACT) recognized Google, Stanford University, Atlanta Regional Commission (ARC), Washington DC, WeDriveU, RideAmigos, Veronica Jarvis, and Congressman Peter DeFazio as recipients of the 2022 TDM Excellence Awards at a ceremony sponsored by Rekab on the final day of the 2022 TDM Forum in Atlanta, GA.
The eight recipients in the categories of Employer, University, MPO, Municipality, Transportation Provider, Innovation & Technology, Advocacy, and Leadership respectively, were selected by ACT’s Executive Committee as meritorious examples of exemplary leadership and practice of Transportation Demand Management (TDM). Each recipient has a long-standing commitment to the use of TDM strategies to deploy, advocate for, or create policies and programs that aim to improve the efficiency and equity of our transportation systems and the quality of life for their communities.
“This year’s recipients have proved that TDM is the keystone of any strategy that improves transportation options for commuters, livability for communities, and sustainability for the world,” said ACT Executive Director David Straus. “Their dedication and commitment to the field of TDM has not gone unnoticed, and it is an honor to recognize them in person in a room full of their peers. I look forward to the future that our recipients will create and applaud their achievements once more.”
The Mobility Services Department at the ARC focuses on the operations and management of the Georgia Commute Options (GCO) program, partnerships with transit providers and innovative initiatives to bring transportation options and equity to the region. Focusing in on opportunities in new technologies and changing workplace needs, the Mobility Services team is able to be on the forefront of tapping into behavior change and evolving demographics.
“It is rewarding to see our highly impactful Mobility Services Department and the Georgia Commute Options program receive national recognition for its track record of success,” said Anna Roach, Executive Director ARC. “Every day, the GCO program helps people change their commuting habits in a way that eases traffic congestion, cleans our air, and improves quality of life. The Mobility Services team continues to find innovative ways to drive change and make our region a better place to live.”
“We are honored to receive this award from ACT as acknowledgement for all of the work we do in the metro Atlanta Region to enhance mobility, reduce stress and better our communities. Developing strategic relationships is ensuring that we are able to reach more people each day and capitalize on new technologies,” said Roz Tucker, Managing Director Mobility Services Department.
“These recipients are at the forefront of TDM, and they represent not only the diversity of our industries but activities throughout TDM,” said ACT President Connie McGee. “Whether they’re advocating for, implementing, or creating TDM policies and programs they represent the hard work that goes into making these dreams of equity, sustainability and a prospering economy an attainable reality.”
