Thursday, February 2nd, 2023
Atlanta has been named the fifth smartest city in the U.S., according to new research by real estate technology company ProptechOS. Austin took the crown of U.S. city best prepared for a smart future.
New technologies can only support us as much as the infrastructure and environment around us are built to facilitate them. With that in mind, ProptechOS looked at the 100 most populous cities in the U.S. and Europe in order to find out which are the best adapted to emerging technologies and prepared for a smarter future.
They looked at 11 indicators of a smart city including broadband download speeds, number of tech jobs, and access to electric vehicle charging points, based on the OECD's recommendations. These fell into the categories of tech infrastructure & connectivity, green infrastructure, and the tech-driven job market.
Taking these 11 factors equally into account, each city was awarded an overall score out of 100, as well as an overall score for each of the three categories.
