The City of Atlanta has been allocated millions of dollars in additional American Rescue Plan Act funding from the State for a variety of infrastructure and transportation projects. The resources—totaling nearly $20 million—will allow the City to deliver vital projects without burdening taxpayers through use of the General Fund.

“We appreciate these allocations from Governor Kemp for investments in our parks, community centers, sidewalks and other infrastructure. This infusion of American Rescue Plan Act dollars—made possible by the Biden Administration and our federal delegation—working alongside hundreds of millions in local and additional federal funds we have secured is a gamechanger in our mission to make Atlanta a city built for the future. We value the continued partnership with the State in projects that benefit us all,” said Atlanta Mayor Andre Dickens.

The grants are:

$2,200,000 for the Atlanta Department of Transportation to construct sidewalk connections at Clark Atlanta / Atlanta University Center
$2,165,093.70 for the construction of Washington Park sidewalk connections
$2,103,560.80 for construction of the Westside BeltLine Connecter sidewalk link
$2,200,000 for updates to the Dunbar Neighborhood Center
$2,200,000 for Atlanta BeltLine’s development of Enota Park
$2,200,000 for improvements to the J.C. Birdine Neighborhood Center
$2,200,000 for improvements to Worksource Atlanta’s Community Center
$2,032,301.70 for the Department of Parks and Recreation for improvements to four City of Atlanta parks
$2,199,561.10 for the Atlanta Downtown Improvement District’s Woodruff Park Accessibility and Activation Project

The new allocation of federal funds will further the Administration’s historic investments in infrastructure for the city. In May of last year, voters overwhelmingly approved the $750 million Moving Atlanta Forward Infrastructure package, of which $460 million is marked for transportation projects. The City has further secured an additional more than $100 million in Federal investments through the Bipartisan Infrastructure Law for the airport, roads and transit.
