The Fox Theatre announces the departure of Woody White, the esteemed Chair of its Board of Directors, after 40 remarkable years of service to one of Atlanta's most treasured cultural institutions and 15 years as its Chair of the Board.

Under White's visionary leadership, the Fox Theatre has seen significant transformations, with accomplishments that have elevated its status nationally and internationally. His stewardship was instrumental in fostering the theatre's evolution as a hub for diverse performances and an iconic landmark in the heart of Atlanta.

“Woody's influence is immeasurable,” said Allan Vella, President and CEO of the Fox Theatre. “His vision, determination and passion positioned the Fox Theatre as a leading global venue. We are indebted to his extraordinary commitment and legacy.”

Milestones During White's Tenure:

· Under White's guidance over the span of 40 years, the theatre welcomed more than 10,000 performances, attracted over 20 million visitors and hosted over 4,000 private events that profoundly impacted Atlanta's cultural heritage, arts scene and community vibrancy.

· As the Fox Theatre's community partnerships arm, the Fox Theatre Institute (FTI) celebrates 15 years of dedicated service to Georgia communities. Under Woody's leadership, FTI has awarded $2.7 million in grants, including 84 preservation grants across 56 historic theatres in four states. In addition to financial support, FTI has provided vital historic preservation guidance, professional development seminars, strategic planning and managed Georgia Presenters—a statewide booking consortium. Through these extensive efforts, FTI ensures that historic theatres remain thriving centers of cultural engagement, preserving them as vital parts of the local arts scene.

· During White's time on the board, the Fox channeled its restoration fee to reinvest over $100 million in the restoration, maintenance and preservation of the Fox Theatre. This stewardship has fortified the theatre's position, ensuring its financial stability and readiness to serve the community for another century.

· White directed the meticulous restoration of the Fox Theatre's Mighty Mo organ and the cleaning and restoration of the Fox's 90-year-old plaster canopy, ensuring that the theatre's architectural marvels continue to awe visitors for generations to come.

· With the launch of the Fox’s Marquee Club presented by Lexus, White showcased the theatre's commitment to providing luxury and unique experiences, further elevating the venue's status.

With White's support and the collaborative efforts of the talented Fox Theatre team, they achieved noteworthy success, earning several accolades, including the 2022 International Entertainment Buyers Association Theatre of the Year Award, the 2021 Billboard Magazine #1 Highest Grossing Theatre Worldwide Award, the 2021 Pollstar Magazine #2 Theatre Worldwide in Ticket Sales Award, and the 2019 VenuesNow #1 Top Stop of the Decade Award."
