The United States is currently experiencing a remarkable surge in manufacturing activity across numerous regions. However, the question remains: where exactly in the U.S. is the manufacturing sector thriving?

The Atlanta metropolitan area secured its position as one of the top U.S. metros for manufacturing, ranking at #19. Here's a more detailed view of Atlanta’s manufacturing scene:

  • In terms of air logistics capacity, Atlanta ranked 2nd among the entries on the list, recording 16 airports that currently service the metro, placing it second only to Dallas.

  • More than 1 million square feet of manufacturing space is currently under construction in Atlanta, constituting the 6th-largest expansion within the top 20 list.

  • Atlanta recorded a median wage of $37,810 for production occupations – the 3rd-most affordable manufacturing workforce in the entire top 20.

  • When it comes to roadways logistics capacity, Atlanta ranked 6th on the list for this indicator, recording more than 3,300 miles of heavy roadways currently servicing the metro.

  • The Midwestern region dominated the top 20 list, with half of the ranking entries hailing from here.

  • Overall, Dallas led the pack in manufacturing, followed by Chicago in second place.
