Tuesday, July 23rd, 2024

Mayor Andre Dickens and the Atlanta Department of Labor and Employment Services announced the launch of the Labor Rights Education Program (LREP), a micro-grant initiative designed to promote fair labor practices and ensure that all residents and businesses are well-informed about their rights and obligations.

“The Labor Rights Education Program (LREP) initiative reflects the City’s commitment to creating a fair, safe, and inclusive working environment for everyone,” said Mayor Andre Dickens. “This initiative will allow our community to be educated and ensure all business owners and employees understand their rights and are empowered to exercise those rights.”

The LREP aims to empower the Atlanta community by providing essential education and awareness regarding labor regulations and responsibilities. Through this initiative, the City of Atlanta demonstrates its dedication to fostering a well-informed and equitable workforce. The program is inclusive of both workers and business owners, ensuring that all parties are equipped with the knowledge they need to thrive in a fair and compliant workplace environment.

The program has awarded $20,000.00 to two organizations: Georgia Stand-Up and Partnership for Southern Equity. These organizations are tasked with providing comprehensive education and awareness campaigns for LREP. The LREP will include workshops, informational sessions, and resource distribution to educate both employees and employers about fair labor practices, workplace safety, and other critical labor issues. The project is scheduled to run from July, 2024 to December, 2024.
