Meet Jackyln, a sophomore at Georgia Tech studying biochemistry. Her path from foster care to a promising career in forensics showcases her determination and resilience, and she thanks Georgia taxpayers for making it possible.

Jackyln entered the foster care system at 14 due to an unstable home environment. Despite these early challenges, she remained committed to her education, applying to colleges early in her senior year. Although she was accepted by her dream schools, UCLA and USC, Georgia Tech offered her the best scholarship package, making it the ideal choice.

Her passion for forensic science, sparked by a love for true crime shows and curiosity about scientific investigations, guided her academic journey. Financial hurdles, however, have been a constant challenge. Recently, a scholarship issue left her with a substantial bill. Thankfully, contributions to the Fostering Success Act tax credit provided the financial support she needed, allowing her to concentrate on her studies.

Jackyln is deeply grateful to Georgia taxpayers participating in the Fostering Success Act. Their contributions help former foster youth like her with essential expenses like tuition, significantly impacting their lives.
