AT&T and Compudopt provided the City of Refuge 250 refurbished laptops and backpacks stuffed with school supplies today to distribute to Atlanta students, families and individuals in need.

This distribution is part of a broader AT&T employee effort to help bridge the digital divide and equip 20,000 students across the country with laptops and backpacks before they head back to school. In addition to supplies like notebooks, pencils and headphones, the backpacks included cards of encouragement written by AT&T employees.

“I am honored to see the positive impact this collaboration between AT&T, Compudopt, and City of Refuge will have on the students and families we serve. Access to technology is no longer a luxury but a necessity, and this generous donation will equip our community with the tools they need to excel in their education and beyond,” said Edward Phillips, Vice President of Development, City of Refuge. “We are grateful to AT&T and Compudopt for their dedication to bridging the digital divide and empowering the next generation of leaders right here in Atlanta."

“AT&T’s collaboration with the City of Refuge and Compudopt is equipping more students and families in Atlanta with digital resources and school supplies they need for a successful start to the school year. Today’s learning requires access to technology, and AT&T’s donation is helping students connect to more educational opportunities that will help them thrive inside and outside of the classroom,” said Atlanta City Councilmember Byron Amos, District 3. “We appreciate AT&T’s continued investment in the Atlanta community and for its commitment to closing the digital divide.”

This effort is part of the AT&T Connected Learning® initiative to help address the digital divide through internet accessibility, affordability and safe adoption. AT&T is committing $5 billion to help 25 million people get and stay connected to high-speed internet by 2030.

“At AT&T, we believe in the power of connection and how it can transform lives. We are proud to support the City of Refuge by providing laptops for the students and families it serves, and we remain committed to helping close the digital equity gap in Atlanta and across the state,” said Riley Blount, Vice President of External Affairs, AT&T Georgia. “Together, we are creating pathways to success and connecting more Georgians to greater possibility.”
