The Atlanta Women’s Foundation (AWF) celebrated its annual Community Investment Celebration on September 24th, marking the first time the event was hosted at Atlanta City Hall. The Community Investment Celebration underscores AWF’s mission to empower women and girls by funding organizations that address the challenges they face, particularly those stemming from poverty.

In partnership with the City of Atlanta, the event featured remarks from Atlanta Mayor Andre Dickens and Candace Stanciel, Chief Equity Officer for the City, highlighting their commitment to supporting women and girls in Atlanta. Fiona Bell, Director of State Government Affairs for Novelis and Chair of AWF’s Board, and Kari B. Love, AWF’s CEO, also addressed the audience. AWF’s Chief Mission Officer, DiShonda Hughes, proudly presented $1.05 million in grant checks to 17 nonprofit grantee partners dedicated to improving the lives of women and girls across Metro Atlanta.

More than 100 attendees participated in the celebration, including nonprofit leaders, members of AWF’s board, former board members, alumni of the Inspire Atlanta program, and key donors. Several members of the Mayor’s Women of Atlanta Advisory Board were also present to witness firsthand the impact of AWF’s philanthropic efforts in the community.

“It’s incredibly rewarding to see the direct impact these funds have on the lives of women and girls in metro Atlanta,” said Love. “Thanks to the generosity of our partners—individual donors, companies, and other supporters—these organizations can continue providing essential programs and services, such as education, mental health care, housing, and childcare, ensuring that women and girls have the resources they need to succeed.”
