The Committee for a Better Atlanta (CBA), a nonpartisan coalition including Atlanta’s top business and civic organizations, released its candidate scores for the Atlanta City Council Post 3 At-Large special election candidates.

CBA evaluated candidates based on submitted written questionnaires and in-person interviews. Candidates were asked questions regarding their positions related to the CBA Policy Platform, which addresses critical issues in the areas of public safety, economic development, affordable housing, ethics/transparency, transportation, and sustainability, among others.

“With a unique special election in the middle of a presidential election, these scores will help voters make an informed choice about their next city councilmember,” said Tiffany Callaway Ferrell, CBA Co-Chair and Vice President of Operations for Atlanta Gas and Chattanooga Gas Light. “As business leaders, our role is not to endorse individual candidates, but rather to provide voters with a thorough evaluation of the candidate’s qualifications and handle on City of Atlanta centric issues.”

All five candidates running in the special election participated in the CBA evaluation process. One candidate scored “Excellent,” one scored “Well-Qualified,” one scored “Average,” and two scored “Not Qualified.” The candidates’ full questionnaires and scores can be seen here.

"Our mission is to educate the electorate, and CBA’s efforts continue to do just that,” said Jordan Dawson, Co-Chair of the Committee for a Better Atlanta and Head of Global Government Relations for NCR Atleos. “With a majority of voters just beginning to review down-ballot races, the CBA scorecard is a tool providing additional context on local elections which have an immediate and direct impact on all Atlantans.”

Election Day is Tuesday, November 5, and early voting begins on Tuesday, October 15.
