Countdown to History: Atlanta set to Ignite FIFA Club World Cup in 100 Days

Staff Report From Georgia CEO

Wednesday, March 12th, 2025

  • Atlanta to host six matches at first-ever 32-club FIFA Club World Cup™

  • In 100 days, British giants Chelsea FC will take to the pitch at Mercedes-Benz Stadium

Atlanta is a true soccer hotspot and in 2025 fans will have the opportunity to take the Benz to the world when six of the world’s best clubs arrive in Georgia for the FIFA Club World Cup 2025™.

Mercedes-Benz Stadium will play host to six matches, including two rounds of 16, during the tournament as clubs from all corners of the earth vie for a slice of global club football history on US soil.

“Featuring 32 clubs and 63 matches in 12 top-notch stadiums, the FIFA Club World Cup 25 will redefine – completely redefine – how, when and where the true club world champion is crowned,” said FIFA President Gianni Infantino in a video interview available for media to download for editorial purposes.

“Unlike the FIFA World Cup in [20]26, where players from 48 nations will be on show, the FIFA Club World Cup is open to players from every nation on earth. As a matter of fact, players of 82 different nationalities could take part in the tournament. So, 82 countries worldwide will follow the FIFA Club World Cup. This is the start of something truly special, of something historic, and there is actually no better place for the dream of the world's best soccer clubs and the world's best soccer players to come alive than in the United States of America.”

Six different clubs will play at Mercedes-Benz Stadium throughout the competition, but it’s fair to say that The ATL is about to get a serious dose of fußball. British giants Chelsea FC and Manchester City headline those bound for Georgia, but fans may also opt to root for clubs from Portugal (FC Porto), Mexico (Club Leon), United Arab Emirates (Al Ain FC), and representing the United States of America (Inter Miami FC) throughout this global celebration of club football.

As Atlanta will transform into a global football epicenter where cultures collide and legends are made, the whole world will watch – and benefit from – this groundbreaking tournament. At last week’s FIFA Council meeting in Zurich, Switzerland, it was confirmed that there will be a USD 1 billion FIFA Club World Cup distribution pot for participating clubs and a target of an additional minimum of USD 250 million as solidarity to non-participating clubs across the world.

“You don’t have to come from a traditionally dominant soccer nation to represent your country, or make your mark on the global stage and, actually, maybe even becoming world champions. So, together with the solidarity pot for non-participating clubs, the participation of so many players, from so many nations, all this is helping to make football truly global, and to unite the world,” added FIFA President Gianni Infantino.

Tickets for all 63 tournament matches are currently on sale at FIFA.com/tickets, with hospitality packages now on sale at FIFA.com/hospitality. Every match at the FIFA Club World Cup 2025 will be broadcast live to fans globally for free via DAZN.com. The countdown has begun: 100 days until The ATL lights up and takes the FIFA Club World Cup to the world!
