AT&T and Compudopt, in collaboration with AMB Sports + Entertainment, provided 500 refurbished laptops and backpacks stuffed with school supplies today to distribute to students and families on Atlanta’s Westside.
AT&T collaborated with local nonprofit organizations including the Atlanta Police Foundation, Grove Park Foundation, nsoro Educational Foundation and Westside Future Fund.
“This event reflects the power of collective action. It takes all of us working together to move Atlanta forward, and we appreciate AT&T, AMB Sports + Entertainment, Chick-fil-A and Compudopt coming together to support Westside students and families,” said Atlanta City Councilmember Byron Amos, District 3. “These laptops will help close the digital divide in our neighborhoods and will provide residents with the digital tools needed for online learning, developing new job skills and accessing community resources. Together, we are enhancing the quality of life for families and building bright futures.”
“At AMB Sports & Entertainment, we recognize that meaningful connection is the foundation of strong communities. This collaboration is a strategic step toward equipping students with essential technology that supports academic achievement, workforce readiness, and long-term economic growth,” said Erika Arms, Director of The Home Depot Backyard, AMB Sports & Entertainment. “We are honored to partner with AT&T and Compudopt for another year to advance digital equity and support the future of Atlanta’s Westside.”
In addition to laptops and backpacks, families also received meals provided by Chick-fil-A, Inc.
“One of our core values at Chick-fil-A is caring for our communities, and we are proud to bring that to life through this collaboration with AT&T, Compudopt and AMB Sports + Entertainment,” said Carol Waddy, Director of Strategic Partnerships & Place-Based Initiatives, Chick-fil-A, Inc. “By providing nourishing meals, laptops and school supplies, we are helping Westside families thrive this school year and further strengthening the Westside neighborhood.”
This event is part of a broader AT&T employee effort to help bridge the digital divide and distribute 30,000 backpacks filled with school supplies and laptops to students in qualifying households before they head back to school. The backpacks included supplies like notebooks, pencils and headphones, as well as cards of encouragement written by AT&T employees.
“At AT&T, connecting communities is at the heart of everything we do,” said Riley Blount, President, AT&T Georgia. “In collaboration with AMB Sports + Entertainment, Chick-fil-A and the many incredible community organizations making a meaningful impact for our neighbors in Atlanta’s historic Westside, we are working daily to ensure everyone has access to the technology and digital tools needed to power growth and economic opportunity. Together, we are building a more connected today and tomorrow for Georgians.”
This effort is part of AT&T’s initiative to help address the digital divide through internet accessibility, affordability and safe adoption. AT&T is committing $5 billion to help 25 million people get and stay connected to high-speed internet by 2030.
