Georgia CVB's Celebrates Billions in Tourism Impact During Annual Tourism Day at the Capitol

At the Annual Tourism Day at the Capitol yesterday, the Georgia Association of Convention & Visitors Bureaus presented a ceremonial $5.1 billion check to Governor Brian Kemp and First Lady Marty Kemp, underscoring the powerful economic impact of Georgia’s tourism industry. GACVB President & CEO Amanda Dyson-Thornton joined state tourism leaders to highlight how tourism continues to drive jobs, support communities, and fuel economic growth across Georgia.

More than 200 tourism industry professionals from across the state including elected officials, Georgia Rivers, Georgia Grown, the Entertainment Tourism Alliance of Georgia and the Georgia Hotel and Lodging Association were in attendance.

Tourism is Georgia’s second-largest industry, generating: 

  • $5.1 billion check represents the amount of State and Local Tax Revenue generated by TOURISM in 2024.  That amount increased by $100 MILLION since the previous year.  
  • $82 billion in statewide economic impact (2024) 
  • $45.2 billion in visitor spending in 2024 
  • 470,570 jobs (1 in every 15 in Georgia) 
  • 174.2 million visitors in 2024 
  • Georgia ranks #5 in the U.S. for domestic travel, fifth year in a row
