Monday, August 17th, 2026
The Atlanta Land Trust (ALT), a leading nonprofit dedicated to preserving permanently affordable homeownership opportunities throughout metro Atlanta, today announced the appointment of David Ogunsanya as its new Executive Director.
A longtime leader in the community land trust movement, Ogunsanya brings more than 15 years of experience creating and preserving permanently affordable homeownership opportunities in communities across the country. He joins ALT at an important time as rising housing costs continue to challenge families across metro Atlanta. As Executive Director, he will lead the organization’s strategic, operational, and fundraising efforts while advancing ALT’s mission of creating pathways to affordable homeownership and strengthening communities.
Following a comprehensive national search conducted in partnership with BoardWalk Consulting, a national executive search firm specializing in nonprofit leadership recruitment, ALT’s Board of Directors selected Ogunsanya for his extensive experience advancing permanently affordable homeownership through the community land trust model.
Over the course of his career, he has led housing and real estate initiatives across Georgia, Washington, D.C., and Colorado, helping create and steward hundreds of permanently affordable homes while building strong partnerships with local governments, funders, and community organizations. Most recently, as Vice President of Real Estate at Elevation Community Land Trust, he oversaw a development pipeline exceeding $100 million and helped deliver more than 580 affordable homes across Colorado. Prior to joining Elevation Community Land Trust, he served as Director of Housing for Athens Land Trust, where he led housing and real estate operations and advanced affordable homeownership initiatives through partnerships with local government, funders, and community stakeholders.
“David is the right leader for ALT at this pivotal time,” said Dawn Arnold, Chair of the ALT Board of Directors. “His deep experience in affordable homeownership, community land trusts, and strategic growth, combined with a strong understanding of both Georgia and national housing markets, makes him exceptionally well-positioned to lead ALT’s next chapter. We are thrilled to welcome him and look forward to expanding access to affordable homeownership throughout our region.”
Founded to address the growing challenge of housing affordability, ALT uses the community land trust model to create permanently affordable homeownership opportunities that help families build wealth, stability, and long-term community connections. Through partnerships across the region, ALT has become a leading voice in expanding access to affordable homeownership.
As Executive Director, Ogunsanya will build upon this foundation by advancing ALT’s strategic priorities, growing organizational capacity, deepening community partnerships, and increasing awareness of the community land trust model as an effective tool for addressing housing affordability challenges. He will work closely with the Board, staff, residents, partners, and supporters to guide the organization’s continued growth and impact throughout the region.
“I am honored to join ALT at such an important moment for affordable housing in our region,” said Ogunsanya. “Throughout my career, I have seen firsthand how permanently affordable homeownership helps families build wealth, create stability, and remain rooted in their communities. ALT has established itself as an innovative leader in preserving affordability while empowering residents, and I am excited to work alongside the Board, staff, partners, and homeowners to build on that foundation. Together, we will create opportunities that strengthen neighborhoods and expand access to homeownership for generations to come.”
Ogunsanya will assume the role on September 8, 2026.
Ogunsanya succeeds Amanda Rhein, whose leadership helped establish ALT as a recognized leader in creating and preserving permanently affordable homeownership opportunities across metro Atlanta. During the leadership transition, Grace Roth provided steady guidance and support, helping maintain organizational momentum and ensure continued progress while the Board conducted its search for the next Executive Director.
Under Ogunsanya’s leadership, ALT is well-positioned to expand its impact and continue creating pathways to affordable homeownership for families throughout metro Atlanta.
