"Kent brings tremendous talent to the role, with a strong background in both the consumer and business side of the industry," said Paul Roth, President of Retail Sales and Service for AT&T Mobility.  "Kent's expertise and successful track record make him a natural choice to lead our operations in the Southeast."

Before being named President of the Southeast Region, Mathy was President of AT&T's North Central Region, where he was responsible for consumer sales of all wireless and wireline services.  His role included profit and loss accountability for field operations in 12 mid-western states, with approximately 4,800 employees in the region.

Previously Mathy was President-Small Business, a newly created division responsible for the overall customer experience for AT&T's wireless small business clients, including marketing, sales and customer care, as well as AT&T's portfolio of smartphones and other business-oriented devices. Prior to this role, Mathy was President-Business Markets Group, responsible for all business customers at the former Cingular Wireless. Mathy joined AT&T Wireless Services in 2003 as Senior Vice President, responsible for the Enterprise Solutions Group.

Earlier in his career, Mathy was chairman and CEO of Celox Networks, where he defined and led the company's overall business strategy, delivering next generation IP switching solutions to network service providers worldwide. Before joining Celox Networks, he was with AT&T (prior to its merger with SBC) for more than 18 years holding numerous management positions nationwide.

Mathy holds a Bachelor of Business Administration Degree in Marketing from the University of Wisconsin-Oshkosh. He has also completed the Executive Program at the University of Michigan.

"I'm excited to get to know our customers in the Southeast," said Mathy. "I look forward to continuing our efforts to deliver a premier customer experience; strengthen our relationships in the community and expand our advanced mobile broadband network."
