Report: Obamacare Slashing Insurance Premiums in Georgia
Friday, June 20th, 2014
Georgians are benefiting from the Affordable Care Act about as much as residents of any state in the country, according to a new federal report.
The average monthly health insurance premium for Georgians who selected a coverage plan through a federally run health-insurance exchange fell to $54 after the application of tax credits, the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services(HHS) reported June 18. That’s the second-lowest average premium in the nation, above only Mississippi’s average premium of $23 per month.
The study examined the impact of federal tax credits on health insurance premiums in the 36 states that opted to let the federal government set up exchanges in their states rather than establish an exchange themselves.
