Arun Kumar Keynotes U.S.-India Business Summit in Atlanta

Arun Kumar, U.S. Assistant Secretary of Commerce for global markets in the International Trade Administration and director general of the U.S. and Foreign Commercial Service; and Phil Martens, president and CEO of aluminum products giant Novelis, Inc., will give keynote addresses at the 5th annual USA-India Business Summit, to be held Sept. 17-18 at Georgia Tech University in Atlanta, Ga.

The annual conference coincides with the 20th annual Georgia Tech Global Business Forum.

Other guest speakers include Indian Consul General in Atlanta Ajit Kumar, DHL Global CEO Christoph Remund and T.S. Rao, the senior advisor in the department of biotechnology in India’s Ministry of Science and Technology.

The theme of this year’s conference is “Growing Business and Promoting Entrepreneurship.”

“U.S.-India bilateral trade is growing leaps and bounds and is likely to triple in next five years from today’s bilateral trade and services of $100 billion,” UIBS founder and program chair Ani Agnihotri told India-Westin an e-mail.

“UIBS is the second largest business summit in the country, where for last five years we have provided real value and business contacts to our participants. This year the UIBS program has over 45 speakers and three keynotes,” the Indian American added.

Key areas to be covered in panels include innovation and R&D in life sciences, agribusiness, healthcare, financial technologies, new media and gaming, he said.

“Our special emphasis is to connect entrepreneurs and small-to- medium-sized businesses,” Agnihotri added.

The forum is organized by the Georgia Tech Center for International Business Education & Research and the U.S. India Business and Research Center, with support from the Georgia Department of Economic Development, the Metro Atlanta Chamber of Commerce, and the U.S. Commercial Service of the U.S. Department of Commerce.
