Press release from the issuing company
Tuesday, September 23rd, 2014
Nearly half of respondents in a Midyear 2014 Consumer Survey conducted by Georgia Credit Union Affiliates (GCUA) said they will look for ways to earn extra money to make ends meet during the upcoming holiday season.
About 24 percent said they hope to make more than $1,000. Why so much? The average U.S. household in 2013 spent approximately $740 on holiday shopping, according to Gallup.com.
Where will consumers in Georgia turn to make the extra cash? According to the GCUA survey results, consumers plan to earn cash in the following ways:
- Landing a seasonal job
- Working overtime
- Selling items online
- Holding garage sales
- Conducting personal services such as house cleaning or babysitting
Consumers can also look to their credit unions as a resource for additional funds. Many credit unions offer holiday club accounts and low-interest holiday loans.
