The Associated General Contractors of Georgia, Inc. (AGC Georgia) announced they are the recipient of the prestigious 2014 Large Chapter of the Year Award presented by The Associated General Contractors of America (AGC of America).  This award recognizing association excellence was presented to AGC Georgia representatives on September 29 in front of 350 industry leaders assembled from across the U.S. who were participating in AGC of America’s National and Chapter Leadership Conference in Washington, D.C.

Newly elected to AGC Georgia’s Executive Committee serving a two-year term as Secretary is Scott A. Clark, president and chief operating officer of R.W. Allen, LLC (RWA). As an active Board member since 2010, Clark says “It is exciting to see our statewide organization recognized in this way considering AGC of America has a national network of 94 Chapters representing 25,000 member firms.  What also makes this especially noteworthy is this is the second time in seven years our AGC Chapter has won this award—the first time in 2007 when our company’s chief executive officer and founder, Rick Allen, served as Chapter President.“  Other 2014-15 Chapter officers joining Clark include Randall Redding, R.K. Redding Construction in Bremen as president; Trey Anderson, Anderson Construction Company of Fort Gaines as vice president; and Randy Hall, Batson-Cook Company in Atlanta as treasurer.

In a congratulatory letter, Stephen E. Sandherr, CEO of AGC of America says, “When it comes to virtually every aspect of serving the needs of your members, AGC Georgia does a fantastic job. Your chapter has a well-earned reputation for always challenging the status quo, raising the bar and finding new ways to deliver quality programs and services that benefit the membership and industry.” Member firms in Georgia include over 500 of the top general contractors, construction managers, and specialty contractors as well as many service and supplier companies who support the commercial construction industry.

RWA is a privately held commercial contractor based in Augusta operating in six states throughout the southeast including a fully staffed office in Athens. Clark joined RWA in 1985 as a project engineer after graduating from Auburn University with a building science degree. After several progressive responsibilities within the company, he became president and COO in 2008 and provides executive oversight on all projects. In addition to Clark’s involvement with AGC Georgia, he has served on other Boards including the University Hospital Foundation and West Lake Country Club.
