A developer group said it plans to buy the former Durango-Georgia paper mill site on the North River and build a barge port with rail connections, officials said.
Worldwide Group/Knights of the Green Shield will provide a preliminary look to the City Council next week at its proposal to develop what is being called the Port of St. Marys Industrial and Logistics Center, City Manager John Holman said in a release.
The project will develop nearly 500 acres of the 700-acre site that sits on the North River on the city’s east side.
