Anil Cheriyan, CIO of SunTrust Banks, Inc. has been selected by IDG's Computerworld as a 2015 Premier 100 IT Leader. This year's list honors both technology and business leaders for their exceptional technology leadership and innovative approaches to business challenges.

"The Premier 100 awards program showcases the innovative work of a dedicated group of IT leaders who are using technology to solve business problems in their organizations," said Scot Finnie, editor in chief of Computerworld. "Every day, these tech-savvy professionals are positioning their organizations for success by mapping IT projects to strategic business initiatives. They also ensure that their departments are set up to quickly enable new ideas, and they balance the need for free and open access to information with concerns about security and compliance. These 100 men and women are using their vast experience in managing people and projects to stay a step ahead. We're pleased to recognize their leadership and honor their achievements."

Anil Cheriyan joined SunTrust in 2012 as CIO and has accelerated change in how information technology supports all areas of the bank and improves the client and teammate experience. His efforts are focused not only on better business alignment, effectiveness and efficiency, but also on driving an innovation culture in the company.

"Banks are becoming high-tech companies in response to client expectations for access to multiple channels to do their banking," said William H. Rogers, Jr., chairman and CEO of SunTrust. "Anil has helped SunTrust develop the strategy and capabilities to deliver new digital solutions for our retail and business clients, as well as opened the doors to imagine the future banking experience."

The Premier 100 awards ceremony will be a highlight of the AGENDA 15 Conference on March 30 - April 1, 2015 at the Omni Amelia Island Plantation Resort, Amelia Island, Florida. The conference will focus on transforming business for the digital world.
